Cork declares her independence

In response to the recent admonishments that I haven't blogged in a while here's one now (and it has nothing to do with the fact that I have something to blog about today and had nothing last week!)

First off, in a shock development I discovered today that I can actually see people's comment in work. But I don't expect it to last long as I understand it may have something to do with a slight hiccup down stairs in the layer of the system administrators. Anyways this brings me to the apology...if there's an anonymous comment on your site today it's probably me.

And now that that's out of the way...I was in Cork this weekend, there really aren't enough hours in the weekend, especially when you spend a least 8 of them trying to get where you're going. But anyway, I was at the dog track Saturday night to celebrate Niamh's birthday. I gotta say folks, if you're looking for a different kind of night out this is it. Food, drink, betting, racing and a band in the bar afterwards what more could one want, they even provide a shuttle service to take you back into town afterwards. I had a great time, but be warned it's not a cheap night out (but then again what is these days) so if you do consider it may sure you make a trip to the bank first :)

For those you looking for some more immediate and cheaper forms of entertainment, the check out how Morgan has been diligently spending his time putting together this :)

Now I'm depressed :(

I'm sitting here in work with nothing to do and such a glorious day outside. I decided not to let it go completely to waste by taking a bit of a stroll along the pier at lunchtime. It was great, don't know why I didn't think of it sooner. Sun shining down, the refreshing smell of salt water. Flash backs to my youth as I heard about 20 7/8 year old girls singing "X and Y sitting up a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G..." much to the embarrassment of some poor boy who's pleas (read yells) to stop were drown out by the deluge of singing. And as I sat there listening to Bilbo give his farewell speech while I filled my lungs with nicotine it dawned on me that I'd better head back to the prison that it my working life lest I lose myself in the joy of the moment and find myself jobless by the weekend.

So here I am stuck in this concrete hell while blogger drives me insane refusing to load and the minutes tick by. Oh well back to the only thing that's keeping me sane the last couple of days.

Well Jp is back in blogging form. He's re-vamped his site, it looks nice. He's also changed the name to Fool's Paradise but the address is still the same.

If like me you come to the sudden realisation that you're way behind with what's going on in the L5R storyline because all you've read are the stories on the offical site then go check out The Quasi-Offical History of Rokugan at The Miya Archives it's a really comprehensive list of offical L5R writings.

I put up some more blog links as well in my links section.

Yawn...
Still all quite on the work front, looks like I missed it all last week. Trying to look busy at work and stave off the boredom at the same time is hard work. I mean there's only so many free text messages you can send to annoy people and if I'm not careful I'll spend all of my money on ring tones for my phone.

Still at least this weekend saw some delay in the onset of my insanity. Well I think it did, woke up Sunday morning with the sinking feeling that I should for some reason be making a round of apologies for my behaviour the previous night. Due to my lack of total recall I'm not really sure, I don't think I did anything *too* embarrassing but just incase let me issue a heart felt apology to anyone subjected to my drunken ramblings and misbehaviour on Saturday night. Including the guy who I wouldn't give some of my chips to when he first asked!!

Saw Minority Report on Sunday after basking in the glorious sun with SATAN and his girlfriend for the afternoon. I thought it was good, even if there were a few minor annoyances, such as how completely WORNG it is to use a system like precrime. Still lots of nice little twists, an enjoyable watch and definitely one of those movies that benefits from Big Screen viewing. And in a shock move it got two thumbs up from Gar too.

HELP!!!

I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bored. Two days at home and I'm going nuts and now the doctor tells me I've got bronchitus and I have to spend tomorrow at home too. I realise that normally people are happy to spend time lounging around and not going to work but it sucks when you're not supposed to leave the house.

I think I've just about over played my new cd's and I only got them Tuesday evening and I mean do I really need a quiz to tell me what kind of drunk I am I figured that out myself years ago.

Which Colossal Death Robot Are You?

Well I spent the last week in Cork bumming around doing nothing and now for the first time in 9 days I've finally had a chance to catch up with stuff online. And as I sit here knocking on death's door I wonder what I've learned in the last week.

Lesson one has to be Fiki is a bollocks and plastic bugs can be as scary as real ones.

Lesson two has to be there's never a camera handy when you need one, like when two grown men are waddling up the road in flippers wetsuits and snorkels.

Number three is never play cards with Farrell if you want to go somewhere.

Number four has to be ALWAYS carry around an extra belly button ring to spare yourself much pain, blood and anguish.

And yet again the golden rule has to be NEVER say NEVER 'cos you always wind up looking like a fool when you eventually do.

True to form having spent an extended portion of time in Cork I now have a cold. My body is just not able to take the abuse of too many cigarettes, 2 nights out of 9 at home in my bed, enough (but not to much ;) alcohol and an average of about 4 or 5 hours sleep every night!!!

I'm blaming everyone but me, especially Farrell who's a little hostage taker when he's losing at cards.
